Staying Happy Inspite of Violence Virus

Blogging is a happy-hobby and there are plenty of happy things to write about. I don’t like to write downer blogs. But, I do like to write about current events (good and bad). To keep Triangle Park ATL “real,” that means sharing both: Upper and downer days. Lately, there has been plenty of inspiration on both sides.

Atlanta crime is spreading like a virus, violently. It’s sad to say that about the city I love most in the U.S., but it’s true. No longer is southside-gangsta crime at the top of the news cycle. There’s a new, broader kind of crime in metro ATL. The kind of crime that reaches outside the perimeter, into the suburbs, and into tourist-destination malls, without regard whatsoever for human life. Think:

  • Kabul

  • Mosul

  • Westbank

Atlanta feels like a virtual war zone and it’s no wonder because bullets flew in Gam's (my mother) neighborhood grocery store parking lot last week. (Click here) Bullets have been flying around Buckhead for a over a year now but making their way to quiet Dunwoody/Sandy Springs added inexplicability.

Crime is occurring around metro Atlanta like I’ve never seen before. I’ve lived here 43 years. Incidents happen at all times of day and night, against whoever happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The most disturbing aspect: We, the public, rarely hear about perpetrators being caught and locked up. Rather, what we hear is the next tragedy in the news que.

  • Lenox Square - There are so many instances of gun violence, robberies and assaults at Lenox Square, it’d deplete my bandwidth to share all. Here is one of many recent incidents.

  • Piedmont Park - A woman walking her dog at night, near the 10th Street entrance were both “gruesomely” murdered. The FBI was called in to help. However, as of right now (8/21/21) the FBI has ostensibly been good for nothing. Absolutely ZERO. (Click here)

  • Orchard Park Kroger/Sandy Springs - This Kroger is essentially the only place mother (91) drives to. It was a crime scene last week at 5:30 p.m. One person died and another was injured. No one has been arrested. Mom was about to drive to Kroger but a neighbor called and told her not to go.

  • A 27-year-old who was shot and killed for absolutely no reason. The killer has not been arrested.

Clearly, no one in Atlanta is immune to the spreading violence-virus. As of late, no one has a remedy to even temporarily ease the pain. A bullet proof vest may indeed be mom and society's only helpful aid for surviving the war at hand in ATL.

Are we nearing end times? I’m not a biblical scholar but I do know that current events “are written” and now is the time to take heed, prepare your soul for eternal life. It’s not like what is happening in the world is a surprise to those that study The Word.

There are plenty of resources that lead to truth. This is my favorite: (LTW) That, [thank God], is the good news.

And on a lighter note: in spite of disturbing local news, Triangle Park ATL continues to walk in Faith, not fear, and we have plenty of fun, happy, loving moments to share while we’re at it.

Stay safe, faithful and blessed everyone!

Thank you for reading!

We know that all things work together for good to those that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. Romans: 8:28

For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you (Israel) shall perish; those nations shall utterly be laid waste. Isaiah 60:12

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 14:12
