Hi Everyone,
I hope you’re doing well. My blog this week is about Empty Nest Syndrome (ENS). Empty Nest Syndrome is a real life occurrence in my world.
If you’re an Empty Nester, I’m wondering if you’ve discovered a remedy to [inevitable] nothingness of Empty Nesting?” If you’re not an Empty Nester don’t run off, this is for you too — chances are you’re young and have great ideas! Us Empty Nest Syndrome dwellers would love to hear from anyone who has conquer-worthy ideas to share.
Were you forewarned about an ENS juncture in life? I wasn’t. The nothingness of ENS sprang up out of nowhere and surprised me. BAM: Reinvent yourself…and fast…tick tock, tick tock.
If I had been fore-warned of ENS I wouldn’t be complaining. The life stages I recall being warned about are:
Middle school
High school
College
Employment
Engagement
Marriage
Children
Taxes, Taxes, Taxes, and…
Retirement
“Prepare for your children to leave forever and not need you anymore” is not on the list. So, call me a Denial Dweller.
These days, when I’m not praying for wisdom, guidance and God’s will, I’m staging off panic of what to do now.
Looking back, PMS has nothin’ on ENS. I’d go back to chocolate attacks, salt overdoses, mood swings, and cramps any day. All of that angst came and went, and there was an end sight…menopause. The “M” phase is a virtual vacation for me…no adverse symptoms whatsoever. But…ENS…yikes. Empty Nesting arrives quickly and if you’re not prepared it’s an acronym that may have you scrambling to reinvent yourself.
What do I do now:
Get a job
Volunteer!!
Go back to school
Draw and paint once again
Beg girls to blog with me ’til death
Hope to be a babysitting Grandma soon
Travel far away so I don’t think about it so much
Play Pickle Ball until I win all the tournaments possible
My goal is to incorporate an even number from the list above. Whether I get two, four, or six in motion, I’m hoping that there aren’t anymore surprise [acronym] junctures.
What have YOU decided to do amidst ENS?
Thanks for reading!
Love, Shelley

However ENS gets conquered in my world, I’ll be making the best of it by swinging and aiming high!
I’ve attached a blog on Pickle Ball if you’d like to read more about it. Click below:
