RUM BALLS in ATL

Hi Friends:
I hope y'all are doing well inspite of the gloomy weather in Atlanta today (assuming you're in Atlanta that is).
Check this rum ball out:

I haven’t seen a rum ball this big since back in the ‘70s when Rose’s Deli in northwest Portland, Oregon offered them.
There’s a charming, delicious French bakery close by the Marietta Square in Marietta, Georgia: Douceur de France.
Over the years, rum balls have been the only thing I notoriously bake year after year. Reason being: there’s zero baking involved. Truth be known: I.do.not.like.to.bake. Rum balls are a great no-bake alternative,,,only mixing and rolling! Here's the recipe I use.
But, wait. There’s better news than no baking: their shelf life in a frig is 2-4 weeks. But that’s what AI will tell you. Rum balls have stayed fresh and bitey in our frig for almost a month :)
Jeff and I were in Marietta yesterday looking for gas fireplace equipment and we happened up Douceur de France.
Douceur de France is a taste of France on the outskirts of Atlanta. The bread (reason we went there in the first place) was so light, soft with an angel-food cake consistency. I almost ate the whole loaf in one sitting. And if you prefer brandy to rum, they have those in a small size. Only the rum balls come in ginormous size.
Any way, as we sit inside waiting for the cold, rain and intermittent ice to pass through Atlanta, I thought I’d share the delight of Douceur de France with you. IMHO, it’s better than any French bakery or cafe inside Atlanta’s city limits, where we dwell. If you're planning a staycation, check out the Marietta Square in general and Douceur de France in particular.
Sante!
Thank you for reading!
Love, Shelley
